WhatsApp’s new Meta AI widget is currently rolling out to beta testers and will be available to everyone in the coming months.
WhatsApp, the go to messaging platform for billions worldwide lets users leverage the power of AI without having to leave the app. Now, the developers are experimenting on a new Meta AI widget that will soon enable WhatsApp users to use the feature without even launching the app.
First spotted by WABetaInfo a few months ago, the widget is now available to a handful of WhatsApp users who are on the latest beta. As one would expect, the new Meta AI widget not only eliminates the need to open WhatsApp and navigate to the chat to ask questions but also allows users to upload images directly from the home screen and even acts as a shortcut to the AI chatbot’s voice mode.
In the screenshot above, you can see that WhatsApp’s new Meta AI widget is adjustable and can easily be resized to user preferences. However, this will only be available for users who already have access to Meta AI within WhatsApp.
Powered by the company’s Llama large language model, Meta AI in WhatsApp can answer questions like Gemini and ChatGPT, generate images and even be used in individual and group conversations. Since millions of users are already using Meta AI within WhatsApp, the new homescreen widget will only help increase the chatbot’s popularity.
Also, since Meta is gradually rolling out the new functionality, not every WhatsApp user may be able to see it at launch. In the last few weeks, WhatsApp has introduced a bunch of new features like 22 preset chat themes, tap reactions, selfie stickers and even shareable sticker packs to name a few.
