Taylor Swift’s brother has inherited his sister’s incredible work ethic. Austin has been building a pretty impressive Hollywood career, starring alongside the likes of Ben Affleck
While the 34-year-old Blank Space songstress is dominating the world of pop right now, her little brother is building his own impressive CV – starring in critically acclaimed blockbusters alongside the likes of Pierce Brosnan, Ben Affleck and Anna Friel.
32-year-old Austin Swift – who boasts an extremely tight-knit relationship with his superstar sister – has found fame in his own right. After graduating from film school, the silver screen hunk went on to appear in several local plays before bagging an internship at entertainment industry giant Lionsgate – who have produced massive flicks such as The Hunger Games and American Psycho. From there, Austin’s Hollywood career really took off…
Speaking about his rigorous work ethic – which clearly runs in the family – Austin previously described the angst he felt leading up to his first leading role in a college production. “I got really worried I wasn’t good enough,” he told PEOPLE. “It became clear I needed to either buckle down or walk away. I started staying after rehearsals every night and running the whole play by myself, over and over, acting every part until the sun came up.”
His hard work started to really pay off in 2016 when Austin landed his debut role in the psychological thriller I.T – starring alongside huge names including Pierce Brosnan, Peaky Blinders star James Frecheville and Anna Friel. Making his way up the industry ranks, the actor went on to appear in the crime drama Live by the Night (in which Ben Affleck played the lead role), the political drama Emdeds, the comedy Still the King, and the horror thriller We Summon the Darkness – which he impressively also co-produced.
Austin also boasts the title of being Taylor’s “best friend”. In celebration of National Siblings Day 2020, the Cruel Summer singer shared a heart-warming snap of her alongside her little brother, gushing in the caption: “My brother @austinkingsleyswift is one of my best pals,” adding that she was “really proud of him”.
In return, Austin has penned several of his own loving statements about his big sister. In celebration of the Grammy winner ’s 29th birthday, the actor posted an adorable throwback photo of the duo, writing on Instagram : “I have always had a best friend, a role model, and a caring, tireless, dedicated champion in my corner.”
Calling being her brother the “greatest privilege”, he added: “You have pulled me out of fires and carried me up mountains. The gift of getting to witness you become the wonderful person you are today has been the greatest privilege and honor of my life.”
Austin is also pretty close with his big sister’s NFL star beau Travis Kelce – even joining Taylor to cheer on the Kansas City Chiefs tight end during his big Christmas day match last year.
And as if that was not enough of a festive gift, the Hollywood star also gave his sister’s hunk a very thoughtful Christmas present – a VHS of one of his favourite football films. Sharing how touched he was on an episode of his New Heights’ podcast, Travis said: “[He] handed me a VHS of my favourite football movie of all time … ‘Little Giants’.”
