American movie icon Johnny Depp is eager to make his Hollywood comeback following the controversial Amber Heard trial. He will return to mainstream cinema in the true sense of the word with the thriller Day Drinker. For the unversed, this would be the Pirates of the Caribbean actor’s first major studio motion picture in a few years. That being said, it is imperative to mention that Depp has marked his presence in a French film after winning the much-talked-about trial against his former wife and actor Amber Heard.

Johnny Depp’s first look from his forthcoming feature, Day Drinker, has been unveiled by the Canadian-American entertainment company Lionsgate. In the film, the superstar shares the screen with his longtime friend and co-star, Penelope Cruz. Helmed by Marc Webb, the full-length feature is written by Zach Dean and stars rising actress Madelyn Cline in a crucial role.
In the story, Cline’s character is seen befriending a mysterious guest, played by Depp. Their connection reportedly leads them to Penelope Cruz’s character, who will be linked to the dark underworld. The motion picture promises to be a gritty thriller and fans can’t wait to catch the gorgeous Penelope sharing the screen with her good mate Johnny again.
Depp’s first big release post-Amber Heard trial
Day Drinker will be the first big-ticket Johnny Depp release after his trial with Amber Heard ended. The superstar was accused of domestically abusing his former wife. However, the 2022 defamation case ruled in his favour, spotlighting that Ms Heard’s allegations were false. Following the trial, the What’s Eating Gilbert Grape star appeared in a French drama titled, Jeanne du Barry. He even helmed the 2024 Italian drama Modi, Three Days on the Wing of Madness.
