Besides all-screen iPhone, Apple is also racing against time to bring the company’s first ever foldable phone. It is expected to be launched in 2026 or 2027.
For the last several years, there is hardly in any radical design change in the Apple iPhone iterations. Except for the dynamic island display, the overall design squarish candy bar structure with curved corners has been same since the launch of iPhone 12(review), half a decade ago in 2020.
Now, Mark Gurman of Bloomberg citing company insiders has revealed that Apple is working on a all-new design for iPhone in 2027. It is milestone year for Apple, as it will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the original iPhone (2007).
While iPhone 17 (2025) series and iPhone 18 (2026) are expected to retain Dynamic Island, the iPhone 19 is expected to feature an all-screen display. Apple is said to use in-display camera module. It is similar to how the in-screen fingerprint sensors work in current crop of the smartphones.
Also, Samsung does offer similar tech in foldable phones, where the front camera (in the wide screen inside) blends with the display like chameleon camauflauges itself with the surrounding environment. It becomes visible only when using it to take selfies or video calling.
In 2017, Apple launched the iPhone X (ten) to mark the 10th anniversary of the iPhone. It introduced FaceID, which replaced the fingerprint-based TouchID biometric security feature permanently in iPhones.
Similarly, we expect the iPhone 19 or 20, or whatever Apple likes to name the 20th-anniversary mobile, to feature a state-of-the-art in-display camera. The Pro model is likely to be the only model to feature this new technology.
Besides all-screen iPhone, Apple is also racing against time to bring the company’s first ever foldable phone. It is expected to be launched in 2026 or 2027.
This year, Apple is expected to bring a super slim iPhone model. The latter is expected to replace the iPhone 16 Plus model. It likely to be called the iPhone Air or iPhone Slim.
