The power couple missed out on Hollywood’s biggest night
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are spending Hollywood’s biggest night away from the spotlight.
As the red carpet for the 97th annual Academy Awards closes, some fans may be wondering whether or not Lively and Reynolds will make an appearance. Unfortunately, all signs point to no.
The couple has kept a low profile this awards season, having previously skipped the SAG Awards and the Golden Globes despite Reynolds’s nominations for Deadpool & Wolverine. At the time, Deadline reported that Reynolds’s decision to skip the Globes was made long ago and had nothing to do with Lively’s highly publicized legal battle with It Ends With Us costar and director Justin Baldoni. (Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni in December, accusing him of “repeated sexual harassment” and retaliation; Baldoni has denied the claims.)
As for the couple’s absence at tonight’s Oscars ceremony, Lively and Reynolds likely weren’t planning on attending the show anyway, since neither of them were among the list of nominees or presenters.
Despite having a relatively quiet awards season, Lively and Reynolds did recently step out together last month to attend the 50th anniversary special for Saturday Night Live.
In the next few weeks, there will likely be plenty of opportunities to catch up with the couple on the red carpet, with Lively’s newest movie—Another Simple Favor, the sequel to her 2018 drama, A Simple Favor—slated for release on March 7. Otherwise, there’s also the possibility that we’ll see the couple tonight at the famed Oscars after-party.
